We are part of global ageing movement and trendsetter!

This global demographic change is impacting the world in new and unpredictable ways.

Now the global focus shifts from the notion of an aging society to that of a longevity society, anchored in prevention, innovation, and investment.

So, the UN Human Rights Council has adopted a historic resolution to establish a new intergovernmental working group to draft an international, legally binding UN Convention on the Human Rights of Older Persons.

Ermiri, thanks. I wasn't aware of the UN action.

I can't help but feel there's never been a better time to be an older person in the US. So much innovation, myth-busting, and energetic thinking. What we are all doing now is setting the groundwork for future generations to build upon and adapt to the realities of their world. Let's hope our government does not let them down!

I am in favor that those who are capable work longer. If not, at least, they can contribute and inject their best efforts, knowledge, positivity and energy into their world, however far that may reach.

Don- Some interesting questions posed here. As I get older sometimes I do wonder if we're thinking of aging somewhat inside out. I like your prompts on--should we work longer? Should we retire? And what can be done about it? Having a moment perhaps is a good way of thinking about it. Hope you're well this week, Don. Any fun plans? Cheers, -Thalia

As a point-of-the-arrow US Boomer (b. 1948) I find it ironic that we’ve spent our lives challenging norms and expectations and driving change, now, as we phase into “Q4” our influence has not lessened.

Our privilege and our burden.

Since the work ethic and job skills of Gen Z have appeared to be so awful, Boomers will be able to find any job they'd care to hold. Tutoring and mentoring Gen-Zs may become one of the job options. Also, Boomer retirement packages have failed to meet the possible demands. As we've spent an insane amount of money educating our children in for-profit institutions (to horrendous results), and we've squandered millions on housing and other "necessities," there's not a whole lot stuffed in that sock under the mattress. Don't get me started on the theft perpetrated by financial and governmental institutions. Your recent article about Social Security being dissolved makes our pioneering aspects look pretty grim. Oh well, party's over.
