Lovely, and pairs well with another piece I read recently about looking for 'delight' every day -- in anything and everything around us. Do this, the author says, until it becomes a habit...like seeking joy.
Big joy can be difficult to find. Little joy, not so much. Flowers are always full of joy. Hearing rain drops on a window…. Your puppy’s constant demands for attention…. The smell of pot roast in the oven filling your house…. A new post from a respected Substack pal…. The list may well be endless.
Don, thanks for sharing this. You may not believe as I do, but for me Jesus is the Light of the World and the joy of my salvation. But any time we are in need God can supply joy in "small" things - like one of your writings!

Making it a habit is an excellent idea! Thanks!
Beautiful piece. Joy is an act of resistance. I am going to hold on to that sentiment with all my heart.
Sometimes it seems as if this is the only message. It needs to be repeated over and over again. Thank you for joining the chorus.

All this, and also the first time your 5-year-old grandson defeats you at chess.
Your article gave me joy! Thanks for sharing these beautiful thoughts during a time that sometimes feels dark. Happy holidays!
Thanks for your kind words, Kathleen!

Thanks, Jim!
I needed this today. Thank you Don.
Profound.
