Don, thank you. I was just thinking about Substack's launch of its new app today, and how very much I doubt that anyone over 35 was on the design team. Never mind that their most popular writers are in their fifties, and that their audiences lean heavily retired: I fear techies would rather lose business than admit that their customers are old. Why? Not just prejudice, but because start-ups want to seem young and hip (and with a young audience) to be attractive to Big Tech looking for acquisitions. It's nuts.
I'm not sure whether I'm up for the app. I can barely get through the prose with its optimizing, maximizing, and turbo-charging. But I suppose I'll sit down with a thesaurus and try to figure out what this latest gizmo is all about.
