On the occasion I write a thank you note (I’ve taken to using postcards I collect from museum shops) I’m amazed and a bit embarrassed by the sincere gratitude from the recipient whom I was thanking in the first place.
Thanks for this, Don. Like you, I learned to compose at the typewriter as a student journo. My handwriting is horrific, but I still send handwritten postcards, apologizing illegibly for my illegible handwriting. People enjoy them, and I love that they do.
