Just look at the prototypes of robots trying to walk. Or turn on an oven. Or pick something up from a table. I'm going to sit in a dark corner now and hug myself.
I am open to the idea of robots providing some forms of healthcare. That said, "to care" also means that what happens is important to you. Robots may be able to initiate or respond to a situation but (so far) they do not "care" what happens if their efforts fail.
As with most things, in my opinion, it is a question of money... who stands to make more of it, at the expense of losing our humanity? I pity our progeny.
I bought my 90-year-old mom, who lives hundreds of miles from me, alone in her own apartment, a robot cat for companionship. It’s weighted just like a real tabby and responds realistically to touch and sound. I thought it would provide companionship without the bother of a real pet. But Mom hated it, and it went back to Amazon.
